Orpacific¡¯s Competency-based MBA program is designed and conducted as follows:

  1. The contents of each module and the depth covered are in line with that of well known universities in the world. In addition, every candidate has to offer a team-based Graduation Project Module, titled "Bringing Up Charlie Inc". "Bringing Up Charlie Inc" is the highlight of the MBA program, which seeks to integrate the knowledge of all the modules into a real life project (see insert).
  2. For each of the above module Orpacific published an accompanying competency standard (CS). In addition to the underlying knowledge, each CS spells out the performance criteria that a candidate must demonstrate in order to be certified competent in that module.
  3. Orpacific assesses a candidate on two fronts. The first is proficiency in the underlying knowledge. On the second front, Orpacific adopts a problem-based learning (PBL) approach, and/or learning through the execution of real life projects. The problems and projects are designed such that proper solutions to the problems and/or proper execution of the project, guided by the instructor, would enable the candidate to demonstrate the attainment of competence of the performance criteria in the CS.
  4. Orpacific adopts an evidence based approach to assessment. Examination of underlying knowledge will be done online, and the candidate may need to answer questions orally. The entire procedure will be recorded using Orpacific state-of-the-art multimedia examination tools.
  5. Orpacific adopts a portfolio based assessment method for project works, in that a candidate would record the process of the execution of the projects using Orpacific digital state-of-the-art archiving system. Each candidate would present his/her portfolio of multimedia recordings, transcript of project meetings, reports, and other appropriate evidences for examination.
  6. Assessors would evaluate these evidences against the performance criteria as spelt out in the CS to determine if the candidate has attained competency in the CS. Detailed comments would be provided for each portfolio submitted; what the candidate has done right, the area for improvement to achieve proficient competency.
  7. Upon fulfilling all requirements of the degree, Orpacific would compile multimedia examination records and all submitted individual portfolios into an overall Personal Graduating Digital Portfolio (PGDP) DVD. The PGDP DVD is a collection of all the evidences that a candidate had achieved competent in each and every module in the program. Orpacific would provide an executive summary of the achievement of the candidate, with reference to the details in each individual module portfolio.
  8. The degree scroll would contain an imprint notifying readers that the scroll is only complete with the PGDP DVD, and the PCDP DVD contains all the evidences that the holder of the qualification is certified to be competent.

Orpacific¡¯s ACCREDITATION is not a mere statement that its programs had been looked over by someone, and on the average, most graduates are competent. At Orpacific, every graduate carries with him/her the evidences that he/she is competent.

This project consists of 4 phases. In the first phase, the team of students would be given a scenario to go into a venture to form a startup company based on some novel service or project offerings. The team of students, each taking on one role in the corporation will need to complete a relistic business plan. The plan shall be based on real data at the point of the project. This will be submitted for assessment. Once the business plan is approved by the assessor, the student will be given the follow up scenario for the same corporation, a few years down the line for the execution of the second phase.

In the second phase, the students will look into designing and implementing a structure to expand the corporation, to grow to suitable size for IPO. This will include internal control structure and external financial structuring. This second phase plan will be assessed again for workability. This leads to the third phase.

In the third phase, the students will look into the issues of bringing Charlie Inc public. Realistic events will be injected to test the students' reactions.

In the fourth phase, the post IPO phase, the students will look into issues of governance, compliance, CSR etc, for Charlie Inc.
