Curriculum Overview
Orpacific University of Technology offers competency based training and open source certification of achieved competence.
Competency-based training is performance focused training. In most cases, it is directly related to performance in actual jobs. Our curriculum is therefore mainly designed around industrial-focused and verified topics. In many cases, we adopt and/or adept competency standards developed and endorsed by reputable organizations such as Australian Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) for the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF), or professional bodies in each of the industrial sectors. These competency standards were developed and reviewed regularly with inputs from the various industrial sectors for job roles in each of the sectors. They are a collection of job skill competency requirements for today¡¯s job.
Our curriculum lists program structure and associated modules with clear learning outcomes and their performance criteria. It also lists associated knowledge needed to achieve the learning outcomes. Moreover, the level and quantity of prescribed knowledge are benchmarked against major universities in the world, to ensure they are also on par with these universities.
Training and assessment are all focused on achieving 100% of the learning outcomes. At Orpacific, knowledge is the key to achieving the end - the learning outcomes, not the end in itself. The feedback process is fundamental in Orpacific to ensure all students improve their performance in the learning outcomes to the competent level.
Archiving lessons is not about cutting cost. It is about zero defect learning. Knowledge-centered lessons are delivered in online virtual classrooms. In the virtual classroom you will hear and see the instructor. You will also see the full resolution dynamics screen of the instructor's computer screen. It allows a fully customised environment where you can skip easy parts,or re-listen difficult parts. No more worry about not understanding part of a lesson.
With the virtual classroom, the instructor can do more than in a physical classroom. He can direct you to interesting websites, or set formative exercises to reinforce the concept. You can also ask questions; speak, draw or type; while attending a virtual lesson. These questions will be uploaded to the course multimedia forum for discussion. The instructor may even schedule a synchronous online tutorial, or you can study online synchronously with friends
At Orpacific, lessons are comprehensive, but are only there to ensure you gain the knowledge to be able to execute projects or apply what you learned to solve problems, so as to fulfill the learning outcome of the modules.
To be competent, it not just about knowing, but you have to be able to do things yourself. Active learning through performance is the hallmark of Orpacific. This where Orpacific is different from many academic universities. We do not produce just knowledgeable graduates. We produce competent graduates.
Every modules in each program is peppered with projects; both big and small. We will lead you to execute these projects and/or solve related real-life problems to gain in-depth capabilities in each subject.
The problems you solve in the modules and the project you execute are designed to help you build your multimedia PORTFOLIO. You will be taught to use the university's powerful multimedia recording tools to record demonstrations and presentations of the your projects. All these will be organised into a Graduating Portfolio DVD, to be presented to you together with your degree scroll. We put evidence of the process of you achieving competence in the subject matter in your own hand. This is where the term Open Source comes about.
