Preparation for your study

You should read this section carefully before embarking on your study.

Equipment and Environment

Orpacific's virtual classroom lessons, and study material are delivered online to you. Assessment materials are also submitted online. It is therefore important that when you decided to embark on a program with Orpacific, you are certain that you have the necessary computer equipment and internet access.

You will need to have a modern computer, one purchased in the last three years. The minimum specification of your computer should be as follows.

Computer with Intel Pentium 4 or equivalence computer, with at least 512MB of RAM.
The computer should be running Microsoft Windows XP or later OS.
If you are running Microsoft Window Vista, you will need at least 1 GB of RAM.
A reasonable quality webcam (most present day webcam that cost about US$20 would be good enough)
A writing tablet such as one from Genius. This should cost between US$30 to about US$80.

You will also need to have a access to the Internet. While Orpacific Lesson can support dialup internet access, you will not find the experience satisfying. It is highly recommended that you have basic broadband internet access of at least 256 Kbps.

Software

The access software for the virtual classroom Lesson is provided free of charge. You may download the installation package from Orpacific learning portal once you have logged into the system. You only need to download and install once on each computer that you are using to access archived lessons from Orpacific learning portal.

If there is need for other specialised software, as part of a particular course, this will be advised in the course information page of the course in question.

Time Management and Self-discipline

Orpacific's courses are all designed to have flexible learning schedule. You can therefore access it anytime and anywhere as long as you have access to your computer and have internet access. It is therefore very convenient. However it is also a possible point of failure, if you do not manage your time well. Just like any classroom based courses where you have to make time to attend classes, you will similarly need to make time to attend classes at Orpacific. The difference here is that you save on traveling time, and you fix you own schedule, even if it is 3 am in the morning. Without a disciplined schedule, you may end up slipping very far behind.

Every course on Orpacific has a regular, live interaction schedule. This is a scheduled time where all course participants will go online into a virtual meeting room to share and discuss things related to the course. You are strongly encourged to be present in all the scheduled virtual meetings of your course, and contribute actively.

Orpacific's assessments are all evidence-based. We will coach you, train you to make you competent in your area of study. But ultimately evidence is unbiased. It is you and your effort that will make you shine.
