Portfolio Presentations

To make a presentation, you will need the necessary hardware and software.

For hardware, you will need a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 or later. You will also need a webcam, a microphone and if you need to illustrate in your presentation using drawing, a writing tablet. Most learners, deciding to start learning with Orpacific University of Technology would most likely already have a computer and also have access to the Internet.

You do not need any commercial software. The RLS client can be downloaded from the Orpacific Learning portal, once you have logged into the system.

When the RLS client is install on your computer, it will appear at the taskbar of your computer screen.

To begin a multimedia recording is simple. First ensure your hardware is properly setup, that is your webcam, microphone and writing tablet are inserted into your computer.

You next right click on the RLS icon on your screen taskbar. Select Local recording from the menu that appears. Answer yes to the questions that appear, and when done, a little menu will appear on the top right hand side your screen. You can click the start button to start the recording. You can also pause the recording anytime to temporary stop the recording.

RLS works in the background, capturing whatever that is displayed on your screen and synchronised it with your video, captured by the webcam, and audio, captured by the microphone.

You are not constrained to be using any particular software on your computer. You can therefore perform demonstrations or presentation, like what you will normally do in a seminar room. Everything will be captured as you go through your demonstration or presentation, or briefing.

Your assessor will see your demonstration, presentation or briefing as if he is present physically at the seminar room. The screen is captured at the same resolution as what is displayed. No degradation and blur images.

Once you are done, log into your Outreach account and click on MyPorfolio. You may upload your presentation,or demonstration to the Outreach learning portal under your own portfolio. You may view it once it is uploaded.
